Mini Pitch – Citizen Kane
What if I told you I had empathy for Charles Foster Kane. His abandonment saddened me. I think he got the short end of the bargain in life. So, I ask you to imagine if it had been present day, would a woman sign her son away as Charles’ mother did? I do not believe she would. 2026 Mrs. Kane, running her boarding house and coming into significant wealth would divorce her husband for abusing her and her child and she would fight to create a life for them.
2026 Charles Foster Kane can still be a newspaper mogul, but he won’t suffer from his abandonment issues. He is a philanthropist and gives freely, not because he is a narcissist, but because he is a sweet, kind young man who was raised by his mother to appreciate life first and money last.
2026 Charles foster Kane only needs to be married once because he is not a distant shell of a man. In fact, he and Emily have multiple children and live their lives for each other. When the end comes near, Charles is not alone with his belongings. He is surrounded by family and people who love him. His son carries on the family business with great admiration for his father. In the end, Charles Foster Kane creates a world filled with love and family.
